PRECEDENTS

CURRENT PARADIGM: The Big Bang theory is the prevailing cosmological model for the universe from the earliest known periods through its subsequent large-scale evolution. The model describes how the universe expanded from a very high density and high temperature state, and offers a comprehensive explanation for a broad range of phenomena, including the abundance of light elements, the cosmic microwave background, large scale structure and Hubble's Law. If the known laws of physics are extrapolated to the highest density regime, the result is a singularity which is typically associated with the Big Bang. Detailed measurements of the expansion rate of the universe place this moment at approximately 13.8 billion years ago, which is thus considered the age of the universe. (Wikipedia - 30 Mar 2016)

PARAMETERS

Consider that the Big Bang Theory is a devolutionary model.

Consider that the Malta Template is an evolutionary model.

Consider that evidence showing that the Universe is currently expanding is substantial.

Consider that evidence showing that the Universe is not currently expanding is less substantial.

REASONING

Because evidence in favour of a currently expanding Universe is substantial, conclude that the Universe is currently expanding.

Because evidence in favour of a currently non-expanding Universe is less substantial, do not conclude that the Universe is not currently expanding.

Because theUniverse is currently expanding, there must have been a Moment Zero when that expansion began.

CONCLUSION

That the Universe had a Moment Zero which was when its current expansion began.

Everything in the Universe has some form of beginning, middle, and end. It is reasonable, therefore, to suppose that this is true of the Universe itself. That said, giving the Universe a beginning doesn't mean that Moment Zero was that beginning. We do not know the full history of the Universe. All we do know is that the Universe is currently in an expansion phase and that Moment Zero was the beginning of that phase.

The Moment Zero Universe described in this chapter is not a true description. It has truth in it but it is not itself the truth. Put simply, not enough facts have yet been established for us to be able to know the truth. In the absence of enough facts, this chapter serves as a kickstarter for the rest of the Template. It does its job satisfactorily by evolving naturally and without forcing into the Universe we see about us. However, its description of the Moment Zero Universe is a very simple one and the reality was almost certainly more complex. Some conjectures on this complexity can be found at Selfproof 0311.
