Part 0104 - Spinspeed | ARGUMENT 0104-03PRECEDENTS
- CURRENT
PARADIGM: Linear Momentum is the product of the mass and velocity of an object, quantified in kilogram-meters per second. It is dimensionally equivalent to impulse, the product of force and time, quantified in newton-seconds. Newton's second law
of motion states that the change in linear momentum of a body is equal
to the net impulse acting on it. For example, a heavy truck moving
rapidly has a large momentum, and it takes a large or prolonged force to
get the truck up to this speed, and would take a similarly large or
prolonged force to bring it to a stop. If the truck were lighter, or
moving more slowly, then it would have less momentum and therefore

- 0103-06: That energy is a conserved property.
- 0104-01: That every graviton has measures of spin, speed, and spinspeed.
- 0104-02: That the speed of a graviton can be as realspeed, potentialspeed, and totalspeed.
PARAMETERS
- Consider that angular momentum is spin.
- Consider that linear momentum is speed.
- Consider that the spin and the speed of the gravitons in a gravitonpair is the energy of a gravitonpair.
- Consider that energy is a conserved property.
REASONING
- Because
energy is a conserved property, when two objects collide energy can be
transferred from one to the other with no alteration to the sum of the
energy of the two objects.
- Because
the spin and speed of the gravitons in a gravitonpair is the energy of
a gravitonpair, when two gravitons collide, spin and/or speed can be
transferred
from one graviton to the other with no alteration to the sum of the
spinspeed of the two gravitons.
- Thus spinspeed is a conserved property.
- Thus gravitons are subject to the Spinspeed Law.
CONCLUSION
- That spinspeed is a conserved property.
| COMMENTARY - ON ANGULAR AND LINEAR MOMENTUM
In
the Current Paradigm, angular momentum and linear momentum are not
generally
regarded as equatable - as two sides of the same coin. Assertions
that (particularly as regards the conservation of each)
"they are completely independent of each other" are common. In
practice, the
inequatability of spin and speed does hold with large and
complex
objects because it is difficult to assess their equatability
without knowing the exact structure of the objects being
examined. A graviton, by comparison, is an extremely simple
object. It has no internal
structure and every graviton is exactly the same as every other
graviton. For such objects, the most elementary of collision
mechanics
apply and they are selfevidently subject to the Spinspeed
Law. Think of a game of
pool/billiards/snooker being contested in three dimensions, in a
vacuum, and isolated from any gravitypull other than that of the
balls in play.
COMMENTARY - ON SPIN AND SPEED
The
words "spin" and "speed", as used in common parlance, carry no
implications of mass for the objects doing the spinning and speeding
and thus are not the same as angular momentum and linear momentum.
However, as used in the
Malta Template, the words do have mass implications and are indeed the
same as angular momentum and linear momentum. This is
not iconclasm, merely an accident of history:
in my early attempts at compiling the Template I
started using them without properly understanding the difference in
science and by the time I did understand the difference, their use had
become so deeply embedded in the Template that it was more
practical to leave things alone.
COMMENTARY - HISTORY
The
notion that spin and speed are equatable
first came to me while walking my dog across green number one on
Rochford golf course one
evening in December 1988. This was the eureka moment. Almost
everything in this Template is rooted in that notion and that moment.
